Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 8am – 2.30pm. Overtime available. 

Salary: £6.97 - £9.67 per hour dependant on age and year of apprenticeship.

Main purpose of Job:

To undertake apprenticeship training within the company under the construction industry training board (CITB) apprenticeship scheme, or other service provider and by attending a designated college.

Successfully complete the training to NVQ Level 3 to be able to carry out safety critical repairs, modifications and maintenance to road/rail excavators and equipment used within the rail industry, in the workshop, at customer facilities or on site as require and be able to asist in the ongoing manufacture of new and innovative machinery as designed by Allan J Hargreaves Plant Engineers Ltd.

Employee shall work in accordance with Company guidlines adhering to and fulfilling the requirements of all network rail standards and complying with Health, Safety and Environmental ligislation and procedures. 

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of three GCSE's at "C" or above (or equivalent qualification)

Completion of NVQ level 3 during the first three-year period of employment.

Principle Duties

  • Undertake tuition from qualified employees and understand the tasks you have completed
  • Undertake and complete tuition at college to gain a NVQ Level 3 discipline
  • Assist qualified employees in accordance with instructions given by them
  • Carry out tasks as requested under supervision in a methodical and safe way
  • Observe and comply with correct Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Policy and all network rail standards always. 
  • Conduct and complete duties to a high standard and maintain a professional approach to customers and fellow workers at all times
