The Komatsu PW138MR-11 is a versatile, mid-sized wheel excavator designed for both road and rail applications. Fitted with a EU Stage V engine. The Rail Rascal is productive and efficient with its ultra-low emissions and comes with quick maintenance features where the oil filter, oil dipstick, coolant reserve tank, fuel filter and air cleaner are all within easy reach. In addition to the rail axles, we've integrated an RCI system to ensure the machine works to the maximum of its capabilities which ensures the operator is safe whilst working. Its compact size makes the Rail Rascal a preferred choice when working in confined spaces, due to its 3 steering modes including crab and 4-wheel steer. Its offset boom capabilities also allow it to undertake drainage excavation works on the railway.

Gauge Plant
Friction Drive
The Rail Rascal is fitted with our friction drive rail axles which are driven by the tyres. The axles have direct rail wheel braking integrated for optimum stopping performance via independant park and service brake calipers. The axles have been designed with maintenance tasks in mind, minimising servicing task durations and frequency.
Control Systems
