Our new Komatsu PW160-11 rail excavator, "Terrarailer 320," is fitted with a friction-drive type 9b rail axle and a GKD space guard.
Following the success of the Komatsu PW160, the 320 Terrarailer has been refined for heavy lifting operations. Weighing in at 32T, combined with an underslung dipper configuration, uprated boom cylinders and optimised boom geometry, makes this specialised machine best in class.
With interchangeable dippers (5.5m & 2.1M), the machine can be easily adapted to the job in hand. Hydrostatic drive axle options are also available. Joystick steering, an integrated tool control system, allows the setting of flows and pressures for the auxiliary services with preset modes in the display for different attachments.

Hydrostatic Drive
For enhanced traction and braking, a hydrostatic drive solution is available. This system utilises a through-drive axle and a centrally mounted gearbox, offering superior handling of curves and minimising flange wear. The stub axle system keeps wheel loads independent of drive loads, maximising lifespan and reliability. Operators can select from various drive modes—work, travel, and creep—to adapt to different operating conditions, thereby increasing productivity and reducing workload.
Friction Drive
The Rail Raider Mk2 is equipped with a friction drive type 9b rail axle, driven by the machine's tyres. This system features direct rail wheel braking, along with independent park and service brake callipers, ensuring optimal stopping performance. The design emphasises ease of maintenance, reducing service durations and frequency
